Rav Kaduri ZTVK"L Told His Havruta When Mashiah is Coming: Av, 5772

A Hebrew-language monthly newsletter called "Or Elyon" tells over some very interesting information, which I will translate below.

Click the image below and then click "Download" on the right.

Update: Here is another link to Or Elyon.
Rav Yosef Hayim Zaccai Shlit"a, from the city Beitar Illit, who merited to learn many years as the Havruta of the Elder Kabbalist Rav Yitzhak Kaduri ZTVK"L, and in addition, acted as the Hazzan of his Yeshiva for 15 years, reveals to "Or Elyon" the awesome secret that he heard with his own ears from the holy mouth of Rav Kaduri ZT"L on the time of Mashiah Tzidkeinu's coming:

It was on Hannukka, 5766, about a month before the passing of Moreinu VeRabbeinu the Elder Kabbalist Rav Yitzhak Kaduri ZT"L, we sat and learned the Holy Zohar as is our custom every evening. Suddenly, the rabbi asked me, 'Why did Yehuda do this?' In other words, why did Yehuda bring the Mashiah with the story of Yehuda and Tamar in a way that appears not proper? I answered him, 'The honored rabbi knows all the secrets, and definitely, that which the Kabbalists explained is not hidden from his holy eyes - that HKB"H wanted to hide from the ס"מ, who is the head of the forces of the Sitra Ahora (impure forces) in the world, that He is bringing the Mashiah in order that he will not be jealous and prevent his coming to the world. Therefore, HKB"H brought the Mashiah in an outer form that looks - Kivyachol - like it is being done in an unholy way, and by doing so, the matter will be hidden from the eyes of the ס"מ.'

The Rav repeated the aforementioned question again and again, and then, I understood that the rabbi is interested that we speak about the Mashiah. I got the courage and asked him, "Our rabbi! When will Mashiah come?" The rabbi answered me, "I cannot reveal," and laughed a big laugh. I asked him again, "Our rabbi! When will Mashiah come?" The rabbi answered in 2 words, "בשנת תשעב [In the year 5772]," (which is the year in which we are currently), and he repeated this twice. I was very shocked by his words, and immediately, when I left the rabbi's home, I went up to the Kollel of Kabbalists in the Yeshiva of the rabbi, and told over what the rabbi said to them - they were all amazed.

About 2 weeks later, in the beginning of Tevet, 5766, the rabbi was admitted to Bikur Cholim Hospital in Yerushalayim. I would arrive daily to the hospital to learn with the rabbi. And then, I asked him again, "Our rabbi! In what month and in what year will Mashiah come?" And the rabbi answered me, "In the month of Av, 5772." And he repeated this twice. It is important to note that the rabbi retained conciousness until 2 weeks before his passing. The rabbi died on 29 Tevet, 5766 (as is known, he died at the age of 113 years old!!).

From that day on until today, I publicize and tell this over to everyone I meet. A short while ago, people showed me an essay by the name of "Sod HaHashmal", which Rav Fish Shlit"a authored, and there, it is brought down a testimony from the great kabbalist Rav Morgenshtein Shlit"a, the author of the "Yam HaHochma" books on Kabbala, that he has a tradition from the Vilna Gaon ZT"L that the Geula will come at the end of the year 5772. I was very happy to see that even the great Ashkenazic kabbalists predict Mashiah's arrival at the end of this year.

It is important to note! There is a time for Mashiah's coming that in Haza"l's terminology is called "Be'ita" (in its time) - this time is hidden from all. On the other hand, the Mashiah can come at any moment if Am Yisrael will do Teshuva and will be worthy of his arrival. In Haza"l's terminology, this time is called "Ahishena" (I will hasten it). In my humble opinion, it appears that the intent of the rabbis ZT"L is that Av, 5772 is the most auspicious time for the coming of Mashiah. And it's true that we see many signs that we are extremely close to the time of the coming of Mashiah Tzidkeinu, as we showed many times in the newsletters (see, for example, the essay about Gilad Shalit in the current newsletter [YY - which is also great stuff on the same pdf, page 3]), it is incumbant upon ourselves to worry not to cause with our actions that the aforementioned set time that is auspicious for the Geula will be delayed.

As we said, we are currently in the period of the "End of Days". To what can we compare our situation today? To a giant hall full of people, and in the middle of the room, a large screen is being lowered down which will divide the room into 2 parts. Everyone that is on the right will merit "all goodness", they will benefit and be happy, whereas those who remain on the left will suffer hardships. The screen continues to fall and all that remains are a few centimeters until the screen will reach the floor. In such a situation, everyone is diving under the screen and going to the right side, and everyone is carrying his friend to give him the chance to come over to the right side. The moral of this parable is that the Holy Zohar says that only those who keep the Torah and Mitzvot will merit the Complete Geula. We are currently at the "Zero Hour". We now need to dive through the narrow opening that is left open to the world of Judaism and Teshuva, and also to carry as many good souls as possible toward Judaism with us, so that they will also merit the Geula soon, Amen.
Note that Av, 5772 is exactly 9 months from now.

If you take the phrase בְּעִתָּהּ אֲחִישֶׁנָּה ( in its time I will hasten it) at the end of Isaiah ch. 60, and you move the shin into the word בְּעִתָּהּ , you have all the letters that spell the year 5772 ( hay tav shin ayin bet). The rest of the remaining letters (אֲחִישֶׁנָּה without the shin) have the value of 74, same as the word Ad (until). Could it be a secret code for "until 5772/2012"?
Also, in Esther ch. 9 at the place where the ten sons of Haman are listed with the 5707 code, perhaps there might be another code in there. The last son of Haman mentioned, Vaizatha, is spelled with a big Vav and a little Zayin. There are 13 Vav's in this whole passage listing Haman's sons. Could there be a reason why this Vav and not the others was enlarged? If you find the gematria of Vaizatha, you get 424, the same exact number as Mashiach Ben David. Maybe the Vav is the sixth millenium as it is with the 5707 code, and the small zayin could mean the decade that starts with seven as we're in now. The next letters immediately after this little zayin are Tav Alef Ayin Sin resh Tav and Bet. If you just get rid of the Resh, you have all the letters that spell (5)771-772, maybe hinting that this time period would be very significant. Also in verse 29, the word וַתִּכְתֹּב with the big Tav may have something to it. If you leave the Vav out and only take the value of תִּכְתֹּב, you get 822. Backwards that's 228. The Vav can just mean the sixth millennium. 228 years before the end of the sixth millennium is 5772, Also verse 29 and 29th of Tevet(???). (I'm not making predictions, just observations, al)

R"H Av 5772 is exactly 3 and a half years of the Obama presidency: "A time, times and a half of time" - the verse where Obama's name is encoded in the Book of Daniel.

Is Moshiach supposed to kill Gog/Armilus ?

That would tie in nicely.

Here's something else that could relate to Obama not finishing his term. There have been only four US Presidents that have been elected while at the same time being members of the US Congress from either the House of Representatives or the Senate. These are Presidents Garfield, Harding, Kennedy, and Obama. The three before Obama all died in office in their first and only term. Could this be bad luck for Obama? I'm not saying that I want this to happen, but it's interesting to note. Also, no Democrat has ever been elected President more than once who was not previously a governor.

I hear the sounds of war coming from various directions. I also read that war is more likely to break out not in summer as it is too hot, not in winter because it is too wet, but in the interim months, i.e., that leaves autumn and spring - our days of the Yom Tovim.

The return of Gilad and it's subsequent release of Arab prisoners, some have hinted, suggests that Israel will go in to clean out the hornets' nest. The timing is ripe. We shall see.

IY"H we will see the Holy Rabbi's words to fruition. But since he left us so soon after making this public, leaves one to wonder if it was premature, and if so, what that means for us.

Thank you YY.

i think he was hinting to Yehoshua in his note, but to his student Yehoshua Meiri. further confirmation. purportedly, he added a vav to this Yehoshua Meiri's name, which matches the strange malei-vav spelling of Yehoshua in the encoding in the note. (At the least, vav was added to somebody's name, according to R' Kaduri.)

but Rav Kaduri was no closet Christian!

How is predicting a date any better than saying it's happening soon? When the date comes and goes normally, people feel hurt. "Soon" should be good enough to motivate us to do Teshuvah.

In relationship to this unique revelation of HaRav Kaduri TZ"L, it has been reported by his students that a couple of years before his passing, he met face to face with Moshiach, noting that HaRav Kaduri received a Beracha that he would live to see Moshiach. Also as has been noted in this post already, the phrase Tisha B'Av - of which Chazal say is when Moshiach was born (which means that the potential of Moshiach coming began on this day when the Beit HaMikdash was destroyed) - contains the same letters as Av Hei-Tav-Shin-Ayin- Beit (Av 5772). I think this says it all. And for my take of the timing of the end of our exile, you can check it at www.gematriot.blogspot.com, #116 - Years of Slavery (Aug '11), as per the connection between the 116 years of Egyptian slavery for the Jews & the period of The Three Weeks in the exile years following both times of the Churban Beit HaMikdash.

Predictions of Moshiach's coming at a specific time actually really upset me. It is simply wrong to do this. This particular instance must be about the zillionth prediction of Moshiach's coming since Shabbesai Tzvi, and is no more likely to be correct than the previous zillion minus one.

Rest assured, that when we start blowing the shofar on Rosh Chodesh Elul, and Moshiach still has not come, the people who were looking forward with starry eyes to the Final Redemption in Av 5772 will start regurgitating the same tired old stories that some great mekubbalim got together and davened so hard that Hashem decide to spare us the travails of Moshiach, or that we "weren't worthy of redemption", or any other excuse why the prediction didn't come true. Their faith will be unaffected.

But what of the damage they will have done to people who hear yet another failed prediction? It makes Torah a mockery in their eyes, chas veshalom! When people come out banging the Moshiach drum like this, undeterred by the failure of every previous prophecy, people on the fringe and secular Jews see us as caricature nutters standing on soap boxes with "The End Is Nigh" signs.

You do nobody any service by publishing predictions like this. Learn Torah, do Mitzvos, and worry about being the best person you can be. And leave it to Hashem to decide when Moshiach will come.

Shaul B,

You've eloquently made your point, but here's why ultimately, it is not wrong to do this - aderabba - I believe it is a positive thing to do.

Yes, Mashiah predictions have become a dime a dozen lately, but not just lately. You've mentioned Shabetai Tzvi, but they were around much earlier than that without mentioning a specific leader.

The Rambam mentioned 1212 (or 1216) as a possible date. The Ramban mentioned his Geula prediction on Bereishit 2:3. There were predictions mentioned by the gemara in Sanhedrin, Mashiah hopes in the 600s CE, and in pretty much every century after that at least a few. These did not work out due to whatever reasons, but were these Mashiah hopes considered bad for us to look forward to? No.

The gemara says תיפח רוחן של מחשבי קיצין, but I already blogged many times about the Rishonim (like the Ramban) and Aharonim (like the Malbim) who say that it no longer applies. Others say it applies, but only if you make it a drop-dead date, which no one here is doing.

You worry about the damage done to those who hear of "another failed prediction". You say that it makes Torah a mockery in their eyes. I disagree. Those who hear the prediction and are inspired by it realize that predictions sometimes don't pan out - as they haven't for the last 500 predictions. People are smart enough to know that they need to hope for this prediction date without making the prediction date a core of their belief.

Your other concern is of people on the fringe and secular Jews seeing us as "caricature nutters standing on soap boxes with "The End is Nigh" signs".

To that, I say, "Let them." What do I care? Secular Jews consider us as nutters anyways.

You say, "Learn Torah, do Mitzvos, and worry about being the best person you can be."

I say that this is davka why publicizing this prediction is a positive. It will inspire people to do just that.

And we are leaving the Keitz to Hashem. No one is deciding that for Him.

May Mashiah come as soon as possible, and may we truly be worthy to receive him.

As opposed to your eloquent comment earlier, you just accused me of being wrong-headed without explanation.

Try me. Give me a reason to agree with you.

Here's how I see it and you tell me where I'm wrong.

Secular Jews need to be shown the right path. The ones that are willing to listen will need to be taught to accept certain truths. Those that are not will unfortunately falter. We do our best to bring them closer, but alas, many continue to mock us despite our best efforts.

If we call out and let people know that Mashiah is near, we want those who are willing to listen to do Teshuva, while those who aren't will be like those who died in Makat Hoshech.

Let me ask you: would you rather Moshe Rabbeinu not do all the Makot so that 4/5 of the Bnei Yisrael survive, but remain in Egypt?

We just read No'ah. Was No'ah a "nutter" when he warned people "The end is nigh"? Would you dare consider him wrong-headed?

Yaak - OK, my previous comment was too dismissive. So here goes at an explanation of why your comment left me so aghast.

Repeat quote: "To that, I say, 'Let them.' What do I care? Secular Jews consider us as nutters anyways."

My critique is from a number of angles:

1. Dismissal of secular Jews, with the implication that they may safely be written off, and we don't need to care about them or what they think. In reality there are very few hard-core "secular" Jews who are anti-Jewish. (Many of them happen to be on the Israeli Supreme Court bench, but that's a different story.) The vast majority of non-practising Jews are there simply out of ignorance. These are people who are very much affected by how religious people behave. When we act like mensches, projecting a face of cheer, friendliness, integrity and all those other nice things, we make a kiddush Hashem, subtly and effectively doing kiruv just by being. OTOH, when we create an "us" and "them" attitude, and we relate to them as somehow lesser beings - well, goodbye kiruv and hello polarization.

2. There is a time for brazenness - when it comes to keeping mitzvos. And there is a time for being a little more subdued. Read Mesillas Yesharim chapter 20, about "the weighing of chassidus". Bottom line, we do not compromise on ikkar halacha - but when it comes to chumros and hiddurim, if it will cause other Jews to ridicule us or the Torah, the hiddur is to refrain from that behavior. And that's talking about real, recognized hiddurim and chumros, not these predictions of when Moshiach will come, which are highly questionable in the first place if they are even permitted halachically. Jews on the edge look at this kind of stuff and say, "Oh, those religious twits are always making stupid predictions that never come true." And that, frankly, is a Chillul Hashem, and causes non-observant Jews to regard the whole Torah with added cynicism.

3. And in response to your assertion that predictions of the coming of Moshiach help to inspire people to do teshuva - I answer: prove it. And if someone does teshuva because they thought Moshiach was coming on such-and-such a date - what happens when that date passes, and the UFO failed to come and pick up the True Believers? Anybody who is so emotionally unstable that they make a radical change to their lifestyle just because of some story about Rav Kaduri, is not a sincere returnee, and they will drop whatever religious trappings they have the minute something else exciting comes along and plays up to their expectations of the End Of Days.

Personally, I am completely devoted, shomer Torah umitzvos... and even I find that these predictions only serve to feed my yetzer hora and weaken my faith. I have heard so many predictions involving the Baba Sali, Rav Kaduri and a host of other Holy Men... I used to get excited about the possibility of Moshiach coming soon, but now frankly I find that I'm getting quite jaded, and every time someone talks about how Moshiach for sure is coming soon, I say, "yeah, yeah, they've been saying that since Shabbesai Tzvi". I actually have to pick myself up and give myself mussar - to ignore all the failed predictions, and still continue believing that Hashem will send Moshiach... sometime...

Shaul,

Thank you for your response.

You apparently are of the opinion that all secular Jews think like you do and are rationalists like you seem to be. And you may be right - rationalist secular Jews may get turned off by what I write.

However, I can tell you that there is a large percentage of secular Jews who do not think in that way -especially, those that have a more traditional bent. For example, Sephardic Jews do not think this way - they have more of an Emuna Peshuta approach to their Judaism. It is to these types of people that my blog is targeting.

If you feel that Mashiah predictions will hurt your Emuna, DO NOT READ MY BLOG. I can tell you - and you can probably guess -that the vast majority of my readers are not rationalists, but those whose faith extends beyond reason.

To call it a "chillul Hashem" is totally ridiculous. You don't want to read these predictions, fine - don't. And neither will people who think like you. They will likely dismiss it. And when they dismiss it, they might say something like, "Oh, those religious twits are always making stupid predictions that never come true." That is not a "chilul Hashem" to do what's right.

Was it a Hillul Hashem for No'ah to build his ark and have the entire world population laugh at him with a similar sentiment?

Was it a Hillul Hashem to have Yimiyahu Hanavi warn the Jews of impending disaster and have the Jews show a similar sentiment?

I don't think I need to go on to make my point.

You also wrote:

You obviously don't know anyone out of your 4 Amot of rationalist Jews. I love rationalist Jews. My favorite cousins are rationalist Jews. And I'll fully admit that my blog is not for them. Or you.

There are, however, an enormous group of people who are emotionally very stable who will be inspired by such news.

May Mashiah come way before this date, and may we Be'ahdut join together in welcoming Mashiah Bimheira veyameinu. Amen.

In the years 5751-5752 the Rebbe declared that the "work of refinement of the sparks" is complete, and we now have the "Orot of Tohu" - which are the deepest levels of G-dliness corresponding to the Name of 63 within Adam Kadmon (kabbalistically referring to Creator Consciousness, as opposed to Creation Consciousness).
• The "problem" with these "Lights of Tohu" is that if they are not properly internalized by the proper "Vessels of Tikun", they bring to "yenikat hachitzonim" - improper nourishment of the Forces of Darkness. These conceal G-dliness and bring harsh judgements and chaos of exile.
• Unlike at the time "allowed for exile", when Darkness and concealment of G-dliness were allowed to rule, today - the world is in "redemption" - it no longer conceals G-dliness.
• What's left to do is stop feeding the Forces of Darkness by properly directing and internalizing these Lights of Tohu into vessels of rectification.
• This is made possible only by the formation of a network, creating a standing vessel for the channeling of Infinity. This is why the redemption was always said to be dependent on the "ingathering of Israel", and "Ahavat Israel".
• Literally, when a person stands to receive G-dliness by himself, he has a single vessel. If he united with a second Jew, each of them has 2X vessels, 3 Jews allow each to have 3X vessels, etc.
• Revealing G-d within the physical world os ultimately a product of interactions ("giving" and "receiving") of Neshamot in physical bodies in the physical world. This is the inner mystery of the Beit HaMikdash ("and they shall build Me a sanctuary and I shall dwell within them" - "within them" it says, not "within it", saying "within each and every one of them..."

Moshiach ben Dovid and Moshiach ben Yosef
• The Arizal comments on the Zohar that when the intrinsic level of G-dliness called "Atik Yomin" is revealed, it happens in three stages:
o "It is found"
o "It is hidden"
o and "It is revealed"
• The Vilna Gaon taught that Moshiach ben Dovid will "open the redemption" and be concealed, while Moshiach ben Yosef "fights the wars" of redemption, bring about the miraculous revelation of Moshiach ben Dovid in the complete redemption.

It is unrelated to being non-rationalist. It has to do with the members of another religion thinking Rav Kaduri wrote something which he didn't write (see rationalist blog parshablog and this post) and therefore eating up his prediction. They will be sorely disappointed.
